Offline Transcribe
Speech to text on your own Mac, iPhone and iPad. Nothing is uploaded.
Record straight into the app and watch the words appear, or open an audio or video file you already have. The transcription happens on the device, using the speech engine built into the operating system — there is no server, no account and no subscription.
Once the language you need is on the device, the app works with the internet
completely off. You can check that yourself: turn on Airplane Mode and record.
What it does
- Records and transcribes as you speak, with a level meter so you can see the microphone is picking you up.
- Transcribes audio and video files you already have.
- Picks the language on its own, and redoes a recording if what you said turns out to be in another language.
- Keeps every transcript, searchable by any word in it.
- Groups them by topic, so many recordings about the same thing stay together.
- Lets you fix a word and keeps the timings lined up.
- Exports plain text, Markdown with timestamps, or
.srtsubtitles — one at a time or several at once.
What it does not do
It does not separate speakers. The transcript is one continuous piece of text with no "Speaker 1 / Speaker 2" labels, because the on-device engine does not tell voices apart. If that is what you need, this is not the right app.
One purchase
Buying it once covers Mac, iPhone and iPad. There is no subscription and there will not be one: the recognition costs nothing to run, so there is nothing to charge you for month after month.
